Brother we're all like 42 now most of us haven't lived in "cities" for a decade
To answer your question though unless you're young NYC is the only city in America where you won't miss a car. Even places like Chicago, Boston, etc. are pretty limited in that you're mostly restricted to whatever transit line you're closest to, which isn't bad if you're 23 and live nearby friends but gets far more annoying with age.
