I'm not trying to Out myself, but I drive a used Prius and it's practically worthless in terms of its value.
Used domestic trucks are on par with Toyota in terms of what people try to get for them.
When I google random Cars, the Toyota is close to random shitmobiles in the segment.
IMHO, this is only true in Scummy midwestern or other areas. with a Ford dealer in every small town. Aside from that it's just proles clinging to what they know. To them a $77,000k truck isn't "expensive" but a $33,000k OTD camry is.
