I'm Cornell '68. HLS '71 - when there were only about 30 women in a class of 600+. Happily married to another HLS graduate for over 35 years.
I know that a lot of guys I went to school with were kind of clumsy jerks when it came to women (they were nerds - they couldn't help themselves) - but you guys make those guys look like Fred Astaire.
As someone who has been online since the 80's - I hope that Heidi (and any other woman defamed by you guys here) will consult a decent lawyer - get a subpoena to get your real names - and sue the pants off you for defamation. You're supposed to be law students (or something equally lofty). Yes? You do realize that there is no right to secret identities in cyberspace - yes? And that there is no special immunity conferred on defamatory statements uttered in cyberspace. Yes?
Also - FWIW - most trophy wives want trophy husbands. Haven't seen much evidence of trophy husband potential here. Robyn |

Do you know what defamation is? If so, you'd know that nothing in this thread is actionable.
Second, if there's no right to "secret identities" in cyberspace, then why is there a "right" to privacy for pictures one posts online? Also, you might want a First Amendment refresher course- anonymous speech IS a constitutional right, as stated in many, many political campaigning SCOTUS cases. Maybe I'll post them later, but really, as a "lawyer," you should know this already.
The only part of your post that is correct is the statement that online identities receive no special deferrence. This is true. Online monikers get the same protections as "in real life" speech, which would be protected in this case because (a) it only expresses an opinion and (b) no untruths were stated and (c) it's obvious satire/sarcasm and (d) she can't prove any damages anyway, as there is nothing to substantiate the loss of employment claim, and the standards for actionable IIED claims are far, far too high for any lawsuit related to this board to surive a 12b6.
Again, you either aren't a lawyer, or you're a terribly stupid one. |

Just do a Google search for "Victoria Weatherford" She is a 1L at Yale Law School. There was a thread on here about her called "Hot Bitch Scores a 179 after taking Blueprint Prep (Pic Enclosed" It comes up in the Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22victoria+weatherford%22).
