Main reason is that this board's format (unlike e.g. VBB) is not really suited for signatures. Sig lines would more or less double the length of each post and make long threads even harder to wade through (as it is, I already find threads hard to read after more than 30 posts or so).
I think the email tagline works well. Get rid of the email link so I can actually have a working link to my blog or something. Also if people do want an email link (or have a private message function), you can embed the link with the poster's name so people could just click on that and contact the poster directly. |

Additionally, there's a certain visual appeal in having a "sig" (i.e. the e-mail line) immediately to the right of a user's name, rather than at the bottom of every post. The fact that it's colored and italicized sets it off from the name, like a further commentary on the poster's personality. A little bit of insta-identity fashioning, if you will. |
