i've never actually 'gamed' THAT much, even as a kid. but now i have a proper Backlog that i can tap whenever bored, and will presumably never be exhausted due to not playing very often.

My theory is that "backloggers" would have been physical possessions hoarders in pre-digital eras
Not talking bad about them it just seems like it's pretty clearly the same psychological pattern
I have like zero physical possessions I give a shit about and I also tend to play the Same Games over and over again and don't care about trying out new ones

i got the half-life expansion 'opposing force' for 99 cents. i never actually played it back when half-life was popular. it's a fun little game so far, but it looks like it's only a few hours long.

bought Kingdom Come Deliverance II. loved the first one.
man it is boring shit. endless dialog. dull ass repetitive quests: another challenge where i carry bags of grain back and forth!! everything is on rails. few interesting things to discover. combat is rare and terrible.
now im wondering if KCD1 was actually any good, or if i played it when i was really damn bored.

I’ve been reluctant to try KCD2. I feel like they must’ve done everything they want to do
I somehow let Redditors hype KCD1 up for me with its REALISTIC combat but it’s pretty much elder scrolls iirc, you just level up a bit then enemies melt. The beginning is harder but that’s every western game. They expect you to start a 60 hour game at peak gaming skill and not improve. Bc the play testers are nolifers and you don’t improve much from 20,000-20,100 life to date gaming hours. With that said I enjoy the Holy Roman Empire/bohemia stuff or any era of history that no one cares about.

i finished opposing force. that was a fun little game. the game gives you some absolute dogshit 'teammates' at a few points with horrible path-finding and a tendency to alert enemies before you're ready. it actually makes sense in a couple spots to murder your team so you can take their weapons and ammo and use them yourself. ammo and health are relatively scarce in the game, and they just waste it.
