you know how anime fans, at some point, you can tell they just like consooming anything with cartoon renderings drawn by Japanese ppl that move at like 15 fps? That's how JRPG fans are. If you're a Normal Bro then after like your 12th JRPG you're like, "ok," but JRPG fans proper are like: "a guy with an anime portrait is talking. by god..."
12 of anything is a lot imo, but to people who like The Same thing, it can be good. 12 proper JRPGs is much much better than 12 pokemon games. And it isn't fair to star ocean that I'm like "💤" tbh.
I used to get into arguments with posters on the Internet. Like the current State of the mega man fandom is that they think 4 is the best. I was like "doesn't it lose points for being the 4th iteration of the Same Game?" and absolutely no one agreed or thought I had any point whatsoever.

if you're suggesting all jrpgs are the same you're just wrong. tri-ace's peculiar contribution is the super dungeon that lets you keep grinding and grinding after the game is over

I liked how 90s RPGs were all different. all the FFs were different from each other in terms of gameplay and vibe. Action RPGs are totally different. Xenogears is insane. Teranigma has an effigy of Jesus Christ randomly. Chrono Trigger allows Time Travel, and inspired the Seinfeld finale.
21st JRPGs just feel the same. anime portrait + 😴 story. And after Xenogears made me an atheist and forged my entire philosophical underpinning, I mean how do you top that?

I've literally never heard of The Last Remnant, ever. I have no idea why it wouldn't get a PS3 release when it was made by Square-Enix. I would rather play the literal Same Games over and over again, or Engineer Hacks for them: https://www.xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=5911381&mc=4&forum_id=2
