Trump's energy cease fire is probably bs, but if it's real ...

It likely means that Russia has realized the only way to end this war with any kind of face-saving result is to take the rest of the Donbas and declare victory. And the resources they are allocating to doing that now are obviously insufficient.
So it would make sense on some level for Putin to decide to stop spending so much on attacking Ukraine's power grid and defending and repairing his own energy targets and use it to re-take the Donbas. But that would require him to back down to some extent and tacitly admit vulnerability, which I doubt he will do. Playing the tough guy is his entire shtik.
If the whole thing is bs or fails to hold, then that's clearly good for Ukraine compared to no announced deal at all. Will be hard for Trump to attack them for not unilaterally limiting attacks on Russia when Putin refuses to do likewise.

So Russia agrees not to bomb Ukraine's non-existent operating refineries. About what I expected. The farcical nature of the whole thing is obvious enough that it helps Ukraine in the PR department. And it hurts Trump in the midterms since Zelensky has favorables 30 points higher than Trump in the US.
