I got kicked out of Barnes and Nobles today

Date: March 11th, 2007 9:41 PM Author: narrow-minded digit ratio stead I was in B&N on 22nd and 6th and I was making a Jay-Z collage frame with a hired consultant. She was a white 23 year old recent gradute of Carnegie Mellon doing freelance art consulting work for me -- $25/hour. She double majored in Art and Psychology. GPA: 3.89.
She helped me put together a Jay-Z collage and we got kicked out because they said we were taking up too much space. Security escorted us out the building.
Then they started playing Prince's Diamonds and Pearls on the store CD player.
Did we do something wrong?

All in, I paid about $1,050 for the work.
The framing shop guy was a tall (approx. 6'2) fit white Waspish looking guy and he helped to choose the background, frame, etc. He was a fan of Jay-Z and had just bought some white Rocawear sneakers. He told me that jay-z had just sold Rocawear, was now close to being worth $500 million, that he liked his latest album Kingdom Come, and that Jay-Z's music was dark and intriguing.
He said that the pictures he paints with his music were dark.
I asked him if it would be worth anythig and he said no, that it would be worth something to me but not to anyone else.
I said consider if I turn around right after the frame is done and tried to sell it on E-bay for $1,200. He said noone would probably buy it. |

I knew it was going to be problematic. First they asked if we purchased the CDs. Then they asked if we had bought anything, get this, "recently", even tho both of us were sitting there with coffees in our hand. then they said we were taking up too much space. at the same time i thought The bookstore was a good choice for me in case I needed to purchase another disc or paper or whatever.
interesting that it was Sunday (THE Holy day) when we were doing it so it was if we were treating Hov godlike.
keep in mind this is like a really really dorky (but not a dork) thin white girl who admitted she had no clue about Jay-Z or his music. |

BUT, i use mathematical induction at my job, while I'm programming.
Two concrete examples:
1) When we're testing a new version of a pricing library, we compare the output of a file with the output of a file that was produced during a test just before. if the files are the same, then we're good. Because we assume that the one from before is good, given that the first one is good. that's what mathematical induction is.
2) When I download historical spreads from a database, some of the dates have error values. What i should do is some sort of interpolation to get the value, but I do something more simple which is just get the value from the day before. If there is a value for the first date, then i'm guaranteed to have an entire series without any errors. Again, basic mathematical induction.
I can't think of where jigga uses inducation in his raps, quite honestly. i was just joking. |
