all pixels are the same size, the only thing that changes is the amount.
As far as a 42" plasma, yes it has LESS pixels than a comparable LCD. i.e. 1024x768 vs 1366x768.

you could get 1080P at that size cheaper.

why?
it's local and they matched an internet offer >$500 off their "sale" price. they often do so and did in my case.

The Pioneer Elite Pro 1130 plasma is currently the reference set for all HD TVs.

The LCD > Plasma crowd is foolish. If you go to reputable forums dedicated to home theater, the general consensus is that Plasma >> LCD. The only area LCDs consistently trump plasmas is the lack of burn in (static imagery leaving a ghostly after image). From black levels to the ability to resolve quickly-moving images without artifacts, plasmas are quite superior to LCDs.
The nice thing about LCDs is that they tend to draw less power, give off less heat, and offer 1080p resolutions for significantly cheaper than plasmas.
Depending on your viewing style and what you'd like to do with the set (leave it on headline news all day? play video games? use it as a PC screen sometimes), LCDs might be superior. Generally, however, plasmas will give you better picture quality.

I've had the 50" Panasonic in my apartment since February and I love it...the picture is stellar and the TV itself looks very cool
btw, I purchased it on Amazon.com which I highly recommend...a white-glove delivery service dropped it off, and it was free shipping and no tax

60u...
I don't know why but 42" and 46" just don't seem big enough to me...I was considering those sizes but I thought I'd find myself wishing I had went with the 50", and since I was already spending a chunk of change on a TV regardless, I went with the 50" and I'm sooooo happy with it
