At what point do I tell my roommate enough is enough?

Date: July 24th, 2007 6:59 PM Author: Coral flickering milk So I am sharing a 2 bedroom this summer with a small common area and bathroom. I am paying half the rent and we each have a room that are completely equal in size.
About 2 weeks into this situation my roommates wife moved in. She stays in his room most of the time and I was cool with this arrangement.
However, now some random girl moved in (who isn't even nice) and has a cot in the common space right in front of the bathroom. I have to literally move it every time I want to use the bathroom. It's so annoying I don't even feel like showering in the morning because it's such an ordeal.
Should I tell him that I want her out or would this be rude? |

They didn't ask at all about the new person, in fact I was away for the weekend and got back on monday and the wife said "Our friend is moving in" and kind of gave me a 'hope you don't mind' look.
The worst part is the girl has yet to introduce herself even though I have been nice and said things to her several times.
I should note, they are all Chinese and don't speak much English, except the wife who has been here a bit. |

I complained to management and got the wife and friend kicked out.
Apparently they were renting a cot from them for $10 a day and they reached their 3 day limit. They sent a guard to recover the cot and it's gone. THEY STOLE IT, and/or they moved it to another room where the friend/wife are staying.
The guard told me to report them immediately if they return to the building because they are considering taking legal action.
BTW - the breaking point was when the wife apparently told my friend that the roommate and her were moving out next week and 3 strangers were moving in (in addition to the one friend who was already there). |

Apparently when I went down to management, there was a different security guard so I explained the situation. After about 5 words, he said "oh you're in apartment ___" to which I said yes, then he showed me a 3 page memo management sent him alerting him to the situation and to certain personas non grata in the building (my roommates friends).
I also showed him what the living conditions are like (disgusting bathroom with pee stains on the toilet rim, flies circling the kitchen, staled chinese food in the sink, long women's hairs in the bath tub, and a microwave and vacuum cleaner dumped on the floor next to the cot.
I am going to try to get my money back for the last 2 weeks and move out. |

The security guard just went up to physically remove her. (She is at the security desk in the front right now giving her information to the guards).

anyway, i would have just told the roommate to get the fucking cot out of the common area so that i could go to the bathroom without having to move it. i'd say something like "I do'nt care where you move her, just keep her out of the common area" then he could either (1) put her in his room (who cares how many people they can cram in there) or (2) kick her out. then at the end of the summer term i would get really drunk and set the cot on fire and throw it off a balcony or into the street. that way, they would know how you felt and also they would have to pay for the cot. (but don't tell them it was you that did it).
also, if i came home to find an asian woman obstinately demanding to cook food i would NOT kick her out, at least not until she was done cooking. then i'd kick her out and eat the food. |
