****Revifed 18th Century Englifh Trolling Rules****

Date: October 3rd, 2004 3:12 PM Author: Big plaza After giving the Declaration of Independence a good, close read, I realized that we've been doing this incorrectly. There are some modifications necessary, and they are outlined as follows:
1. The olde-English "s" *can* be used at the beginning of a word. In fact, this seems like the common, but not required, usage.
2. When a double "s" appears, the first "s" is always written in olde-English style, and the second "s" never is.
3. As always, an olde-English "s" can never be used at the end of a word, or in place of a capital "S". Also, individual "s"'s in the middle of a word are, as always, discretionary.
So, the following sentence is correct, with the third "s" in "Massachusetts", the first "s" in "colonists", the "s" in "against," and the "s" in "Jefferson" being discretionary, and the "s" in "statement" written in its common, but not required, form:
"Stupidly, the colonifts in Mafsachufetts ifsued a ftatement againft Thomas Jefferfon." |
