You can still have a career, then to go law school and finance it yourself, without going PT. See, e.g., Northwestern.

Yeah, but the PT programs are mostly used as a back door admission by losers who could not get into FT, and by schools to jack up their profits and hide the shitty candidates that they are letting slide in (what is GULC's class, like 550 before they sneak in the PTers? lol @ GULC)

What they should do is just include the numbers of PT students in the mix with the FT students. People can still work a day job and go to law school part time, if that is their real motivation.

The counter argument (not that I subscribe to it) is that including PT students' stats in the overall rankings will dissuade schools from having pt programs for fear of dropping in the rankings. This will limit opportunities for poors and minorities: something USNews doesn't want to be responsible for.

But like you said, PT programs are largely exploited by students with sub-par stats who then transfer into FT and are a way for schools to subsidize scholarships they give to FT students. So the policy argument is at least somewhat undercut.

Terrible argument. Do you mean that the people with lower numbers looking to game admissions are more likely to be poors and minorities because of the mere fact that they have lower numbers, or is it something else about the nature of a PT program that represents a greater benefit to poors and minorities than the population in general?

I think you misunderstood the argument. Basically poors and minorities are less likely to be able to finance LS and thus have to work and are the classes that most benefit from the PT programs. Again, I'm really just playing devil's advocate here.

The fact that these PT programs are exploited by applicants with shitty numbers who would rather go full time, like you said, weakens the above stated policy argument.
