Easiest way to summarize my marriage is that it’s a hopeless, uneventful co parenting arrangement. Wife has absolutely zero ambition and puts in zero effort to grow.
She’s in a deadbeat small company career making 125ish. Even with promotion, she will probably get to 150ish max.
Doesn’t work out, dress trendily or put effort into decking up for me. I work out everyday, I take care of myself, and I invest in upgrading life all the time.
She Lacks complete financial sense. No effort into thinking about proper investments, helping in building side hustles or just general ambition about growth and lifestyle. Spends all evenings and weekends watching tv, and attending to the kid. She was this way even before my son was born, not a post motherhood change.
Doesn’t plan vacations, no suggestions on upgrading life. I do not exaggerate when I say that literally every single friend of ours, is through my circle: she essentially has been able to make 0 friends since the last 5 years of if living here in the Bay Area.
It feels like life for her is just basically an endless journey leading to eventual death. The only solace is that there’s no drama in the house. No fights etc. she does her own thing, I do my own.
I’ve tried everything from calm encouragement to tantrums and rants. She will start crying and I’ll eventually shut up. Not pursue it anymore.
The only and only solace is that she is attractive; has a very pretty face and a regular slim body. No impressive figure that one could build in the gym.
How common is this? I’m honestly not even looking for a solution since I don’t know what will work. Just curious, are there others in the same boat?

She will not load the dishes in the dish washer, cook food, put away laundry, put laundry in the machine, drive to a store to buy food, drive to a restaurant to pick up food or do anything else that might be taken as human labor. She does not cook. She does not heat food. Its actually a wonder that she manages to wipe her own ass and chew her own food. But that being said she dotes on the kids like crazy and moms them to perfection. She sits there for 2-3 hours with homework, she plays with them for 8 straight hours on weekends, she reads stories to them at an ungodly scale, she asks them questions all day long. She is constantly engaged with them. And she takes them to BS like soccer (she drove my 4yo girl to soccer right now). Owing to this insane commitment to parenting I can get over the fact that she is utterly and completely useless around the house and that I have to blow $120k a year on a nanny and cleaning girl and fuck only know what Im spending Im DoorDash.
