She also was determined to be a commercial pilot and was doing great career wise for age 20. Freak accident.
Hard to believe she’s not in the top 50th percentile of pilots in similar situations. |

I’m just referring to her composure, not whatever caused the crash. The lack of remotely high quality theories is interesting (“flew into a thunderstorm” is not in itself an adequate explanation for a hang glider falling out of the sky, let alone a Learjet). A little over half of commercial aviation crashes are pilot error, and that figure is substantially higher for general aviation, which is actually pretty remarkable when you consider that maintenance is *much* worse in GA. (In general, GA is actually a lot more dangerous than people realize.) I get the impression that this setup was kind of midway between GA and the regionals in professionalism but I dunno. |
