Like Poetic Dreamer and Mayor McCheese. I would really love to comb through 2007 stuff and be able to see who all was poasting at the time. Maybe too crazy but we're missing out on some classic content that's not the same with scrambled.
there's notable poasters from that era now in high profile positions who were relatively very open with their IRL info. seems like asking for trouble to unscramble their monikers.

Why not just unmask all monikers unless they opt into randomization?
When the posts were made those people never expected their moniker to be randomized andpeople cautious about their identity can go pumo or randomize.
Charles was an aberration imo. He was tied to Tucker and his identity was an open secret, that's why he got got. Who is going through posts from a decade ago for people that haven't posted in years? We're just not that relevant anymore. We should operate like any other forum e.g. Reddit. If people want to nuke their prior poasts by randomizing their moniker they can, but it doesn't need to be the default.

This is actually cr and saves all the time and energy of combing through historic poasts. If Rowan wants to scramble her historic threads she should log in and click it herself. This is 100% the way.
many of these people were gone before the randomization happened. i'm going to weigh the pros and cons and also think about the technical and admin logistics.

i think a collection of highly curated XO Classics could be worthwhile but as mentioned many ppl were probably loose with irl info in the 2000s and did not foresee the cyberpantoptican hellworld of today. jmho.

A good compromise could just be allowing logged in people to see unscrambled monikers of ancient accounts. Someone trying to out someone for a post from 2010 that hasn't already done it is far-fetched already, them having a moniker is wildly improbable.
i'm leaning toward flipping the "opt-out" switch on behalf of some classic accounts. i'm willing to change it back for anyone who can't do it themselves and makes a request. i'll make a better way to get a hold of me.
being overly cautious on behalf of ghosts is probably unnecessary.
