But she was the Official Navigator. No one is talking about this. Everyone knows 1 55 year old goy who is the "official pilot's" only job is to handle the controls while a 20 year old Hot Chick poasts on TikTok while looking Apple Maps on her phone at the time. The Chuck Yeager captain bears NO responsibility for the direction of the plane. This is common knowledge.

this is surprisingly more common than you think for middle aged professionals with decades of experience and their life on the line to rely on Hot Chicks for survival. it's Her Turn after all.

Yeah there's absolutely NO WAY the pilot could navigate around a massive storm on the radar with a half hour advanced notice because there's a WOMAN sitting next to him playing on her phone. Thanks for pointing this out.

Wait, WTF? Searching for this was difficult to confirm because all the news is about her being the pilot. The complete victims list I found listed her first and the pilot last.
This is like some sort of reverse Coulter rule. Seems like the media has identified gender war shit driving engagement. You've got Clancey, Cornell 7, and the coverage on this.

yeah there's also a bunch of pictures of the girl circulating and none of the actual pilot. I think this feeds into my theory that it's way more important to be the Navigator whose job is to avoid 47,000 foot tall storms shutting down Ft. Lauderdale airport than it is to be the actual pilot. TIL thanks, media.

I'm saying that the middle aged white guy pilot bears no responsibility for flying into a massive storm. It's the co-pilots job to tell him when to scoot around them. The whole reason the Hot Chick is front in center is she bears more responsibility than the guy with decades of experience with his hands physically on the controls flying the plane. She's the one whose actual job was the spot the storm from afar. She failed, he didn't.

It's funny every recap video about it has the girl's picture in the thumbnail. Even YouTubers are using her for advertising. Nothing about the pilot which is crazy.
yeah i think part of it is also to play up the culture wars thing, i forget who said that in a diff thread but MSM is probably doing that, but it's mostly because she was on the call everyone listened to and is pretty, imo in that order

Cr no doubt. Controversy sells. Like I said a dozen or so small planes crash every year in the US primarily due to bad weather that was 100% foreseeable. Good captains scrap the flight rather than risk it all. The risk isn't worth it but pilots are always tempting fate.
And then there was the captain of El Faro who had every opportunity to seek safety harbor in the Bahamas but this dude was like, you know what, I'm sailing into a Cat5 hurricane in a leaky rustbucket... Captains are very powerful. They can kill everyone they're responsible for with a little mental retardation.
Nothing sells a disaster story quite like a Hot Chick copilot.

That doesn't explain why the fact she is the co-pilot is buried. It took me digging through several articles to confirm what Consuela said. This is something I should already have been aware of since I read other articles.
It's not so much that she's being highlighted, which its natural for the reasons you said. It's that the fact there was another pilot and she was the junior pilot is obfuscated. For example, why don't the headlines say "co-pilot?"

Tbf I think it's more them chasing clicks than pushing a narrative because they want a gender wars. This being an anti-woman bias shows that at most journalists skew left and would deemphasize her role. A lot of this bias happens unconsciously, people are good at pattern recognition and getting a sense of which stories will be controversial, and are ambivalent to which side the controversy effects.
Basically I don't see this as an example of media bias, but the media as a reflection of public attitudes. After years of leftwing bigotry I think we're only just beginning to see the rightwing reaction, and we're gonna see more anti-woman and anti-minority attitudes growing.

On YouTube there's a pic of her in the thumbnail of every video about the incident. She's remarkably young and everyone who sees it is shocked she was given so much responsibility. Not an MSM thing because it's being driven by independent journalists with a small following. It took 48 hours for a pic of the pilot to even come out. I guess this guy doesn't have half the social media footprint she does.
It seems the two of them have been a terrible crew before. They nearly crashed into another plane at Teterboro. Weird case where the guy was a crappy pilot and then took on the most inexperienced copilot available. They seemed like a bad pair. Aviation experts ripped her for too much communication with ATC and not aiding and assisting the pilot in the cockpit and going through the mental checklist together.
I think they were destined to fuck up at some point. For some unknown reason this guy really wasn't using his head.

Yeah maybe. I'm not going to weigh in with hot takes on who is actually at fault or whether either were qualified since I dont enough to judge. But the focus on her while obfuscating that there even was another older, male pilot seems motivated to get traction from grrrr women grrrr types. Just look at the convos here.
Criticisms about her make little sense unless something emerges that show an actual fuck up. She's 20. This is exactly what you'd expect budding commercial pilots to doing: co-piloting on small private aircraft. Where else would a 20 year training to be a pilot be working?
Date: November 3rd, 2026 10:46 AM Author: Historical American
I don't think most 20 year old females in the industry are fully licensed private pilots with an actual copiloting job doing aviation. It's borderline unheard of. Have you for example ever seen a Delta pilot under 40 in your entire life? No one has. If the high watermark for commercial aviation is USAF background white male over 40 then what the fuck out a 20 year old female doing copiloting a 2 million dollar plane with 7 passengers. The truth is, at that age, you aren't working in the industry. You aren't getting paid to do this. You have a long way to go to build a resume.
I actually had a buddy who was about 30 who tried to become a private pilot. He went to flight school and did a lot of the hours. He ended up chickening out which I think was the right move. He experienced turbulence a few times and said it was a lot to handle psychologically. Also a wealthy doctor at his flight school died while he was there. This dude bought an expensive, nimble small plane and it got caught up in a big gust of wind and this dude just dropped out of the sky. I think that hit him kinda hard. My buddy was telling me that the older model plane he was flying was safer what this richmo had. People overestimate their abilities all the time. I crashed a 30k sportbike one time I had no business fucking around with and got insanely lucky I wasn't hurt.
Point being I would be blown away if there was even one 20 year old female anywhere in America with her level of responsibility. Imagine being a guy with enough money to fly private and you're walking on the tarmac out to the jet right now today and you see a girl who should be in college right now. You are not getting on that plane. No one is getting on that plane. It's crazy that it even happened. And I say this as someone who thinks the pilot is the most at fault for the accident. But this is still Titan submersible tier insanity here. This shit is unheard of. Why would the pilot take the risk? He doesn't have to pay her as much? Flying around with a hot chick seemed cool? Wtf? No rational actor would do this.

There's multiple levels of commercial pilot certification with different minimum ages and there are plenty of men and women who have beem certified at the minimum age.
Date: November 3rd, 2026 12:22 PM Author: Historical American
Certified yes. Hired? No. And you wouldn't walk into one of those things with a young chick. No one would. Except this entrepreneur weirdo. What was he thinking?
Date: November 3rd, 2026 12:51 PM Author: Fracture in the Maidenhead (gunneratttt)
The minimum age for this is 18. Google says it's not uncommon. You said someone that age should be building her resume, isn't co-pilot on a small aircraft exactly that? What are you basing any of this on?
Date: November 3rd, 2026 1:29 PM Author: Historical American
You really think they let 18 year olds fly 2 million dollar planes typically? I said there was a major difference between being certified and getting hired on. I can see lots of young people passing certification. There are ways to log hours. But to get HIRED by an actual company who looks at a kid and goes, oh yeah, take this unfathomably expensive plane up in the air with paying customers aboard... Yeah right lol. Show me the outfits hiring kids out of high school. I'm sure multimillionaires are totally cool going up in the air with kids behind the sticks. Shit why have just one 18 year old pilot when you could have 2? Double down!

I hope that "but" is referring to other poasters, not me specifically. I was confused why you launched into what seemed like sarcasm about her being culpable when my take is essentially the same as yours.
