Life as we know it depends upon a planet having water and photosynthesis, so it's hard to see how life could persist after all the stars in the Universe use up their energy and die. I've seen speculation that advanced civilizations could use the rotational energy of black holes to survive, but it's hard to see how black hole energy could support life long-term.

Some stars will burn a lot longer than others, though, and it's a pretty safe bet that the last intelligent civilizations will be fighting each other for the last seats at the cosmic game of musical chairs.

Which means that the last civilizations in the Universe are likely to be absolute Chad species with incredible intelligence, discipline, etc. And one of them will be the very last to go- pretty cool to think about.
