Let’s examine the details.
Massive EO yesterday and Lutnick gave that phenomenal speech. Giving MAGA 24 hours to celebrate.
Then 24 hours later, the taco taco’s one by one:
Does not affect existing visa holders
Does not affect renewals or COS inside the US
Does not impact F1 who are on OPT (the real US STEM job killers)
Does not impact 2025 lottery winners taking effect in ten more days
Only takes effect next year but the EO is only valid for one year from now and will be reviewed again next year
No matter which way you see it, this is not affecting any h1b’s at all and there are hundreds of thousands of them. Those jobs are not going back to Americans. Seems like a class case of Taco Don. And Bravo to him, coz he really has pulled another art of the steal for his “fell for it again” followers.
I am unsure if they are examining these details. For a die hard democrat like me, it’s a good EO coz it seeks to protect American workers and it’s a bipartisan sentiment - but it is truly toothless.
As every clarification comes out of the WH, this is turning out to be a giant nothingburger.
