It’s as though the State of Discourse around Nintendo is getting to him. All of the “negativity” and “vibes.”
Maybe everyone would be happier if Nintendo took another 15 year break from even trying to make games. Then expectations would drop and the fandom’s love would Crystallize
For some reason Nintendo is expected to Carry their hardware single handedly… that’s not how it even worked in the snes golden days. They did it with N64 and GameCube as well as they could but everyone thought they had No Games basically.

I mean at some point it's like what are these people even remembering. A lot of youtube Losers, even if they're elder millennials, have some sort of fixation on Iwata and Reggie or something. Like they are psychologically moored to the No Games era of 2002-2016, where nobody was paying any attention to Nintendo at all. The whole situation is very odd. Like I guess we all liked BOTW basically. I very much enjoyed Smash. I missed 15 years of Smash games because I thought that Motion Controls would be required and was like "fuck that." besides, by the time the follow-ups to Melee were released, my Local Multiplayer cohort had already started dropping like flies, and the ones who survived and were still Gaming had moved onto Xbox 360 which itself was like an off-ramp to Hades (the afterlife, not the Indie Game*)
Because to me their peak was the N64 era and the N64 era alone, because that entire system was about Nintendo-published content and I played tons of wrestling games and goldeneye matches with bros who are now gone from this world. They carried that console on their backs. they had rare but they Published most of rare's games (meaning that Rare is not, and never was, Indie. I'm tired of having to explain this btw).
on SNES they got outshined by Square & others. They only grudgingly kept making Games late-gen like Yoshi's Island because Sega needed to be defeated. Gamecube sucked. Wii sucked except Galaxy which had a 7% attach rate. Wii U sucked extra hard.
I've used that line about how they target children several times on reddit and gamefaqs and they always push back. "ackshually the average Gamer is 35," yeah but that's not what they want. these old gamers can't afford a damn thing. And they don't want the average player in 15 years to be 50 because that fucks their business up. Take a fuckin' Business Class. I have an MBA. Accept it.
*Indies offer a Reprieve.
