MGS1 just blended in with Syphon Filter. MGS4 was designed to blend in with Titles like Resistance and other western FPSs. They have way less interest in liberal arts than you would think and basically play the games because they want to play an M-rated Console Game. The majority of them didn't even care for MGS2's liberal arts heavy plot. The only things that resonate with the median MGS player are "wow snake is badass," or, "Meryl's ass," or, "Raiden sucks."
