A big part of this is due to his cultivation of being a colorful character, and credit to him for creating that. Another part is due to the peculiarities of xo. RSF wouldn't excite half as many passions anywhere else.

He has significant jewish heritage and is uninterested in it, is choosing to abandon it. Who gaf? Except xo, lol, is maniacally obsessed with outting jews, and xo's version of right-wing politics (which only became completely dominant around 2012, years after rsf joined) demands a kind of anti-semitism that spotlights RSF's otherwise unworthy of attention dismissal of jewishness. It also has forced him into awkward positions of having to ape anti-semitic positions which obv are IRL impossible for him, given his family.

He has a mixed history of supporting Dems and GOP. Again, otherwise unremarkable, and was even de rigueur on xo when rsj joined. Its since become a great sin, and he must lie about it.

He's very wealthy. Big fucking deal most places. 90% of Americans cannot tell the difference between rich people and don't care how someone got that way or what they do with it. Its all beyond imagining. But xo is full of UMC strivers who have studied exactly what the various gradients of rich are, and are close enough themselves to harbor serious judgments about how rich people are supposed to behave.

So rsf being a kind of former-jew, and choosing to be rich in a "endless but predictable vacation" way, IGNITES xo.

Just a rare confluence of facts that make his presence here very dynamic, and I am grateful for it.

Post script: If I were writing his character for upcoming seasons, I would love to see an evolution where he gets really into being Jewish, proudly jewish, and starts championing Dems again. Bort would melt down and it would create hundreds of massive threads.

personally, i enjoy rsf's poasting. i do understand some poasters not liking rsf as a person and i also understand some may think his family made their money in a distasteful way. what's crazy about it is the level and frequency of hate he's gotten day in and day out for literally decades. the comments about his deceased brother are beyond the pale and wouldn't be acceptable behavior anywhere but here. and poasters defend this obsessive behavior by linking threads and screenshots that are 5, 10, or even 15 fucking years old and say "look, rsf is so mean! wah wah wah!" as if this entire board hasn't been mean to each other at one point or another. the rsf haters frankly look like a bunch of jealous, catty women women they do this shit.
