re: foreign policy, i care about american interests in the region first and foremost. what's good for israel is sometimes good for america and what's good for iran is sometimes good for america. sensible american citizens should be supporting and prioritizing expanding trade and political linkages in the region and politicians who support these things. this war has been bad for business---and demonstrably so on the ground here---as well as wider political plans in the region and this is why i've been pretty judicious (🥁) on what israel wants vs what americans want. the straits of hormuz in particular are a major, major american strategic interest, with long seeded designs made on them, and there are arguments that point towards a variety of options available as to secure or pacify the area around them. i'm hoping for a diplomatic solution, but who knows. i think my positions are pretty fair and consider both sets of agreements made with israel and iran; you would be hard pressed to find an israeli who actually supports the novel experiment of allowing iran to find a greater degree of energy independence under UN/IAEA/US oversight.
