why no famous bands established at HYPS?

The time and effort it takes to make it as a band--thousands of hours playing instruments in a garage/basement/bedroom, playing hundreds of shows, traveling around--is close to mutually exclusive with doing well enough in HS to get into HYPS and succeeding academically at HYPS. People in bands that might make it are on a different track than people at HYPS. |

but in general it seems you're right, not many out there. like you say, pretty impossible to tour if you're in college. |
