You could almost imagine the video store having Saturn games btw. Almost.
Imo the Film is a warning about a future without Indian immigrants. Stores staffed by white guys. Bleak, Gen X nihilism. Kevin Smith didn’t even smoke weed irl. Let alone fentanyl. He played hockey in the middle of the day to stave off obesity and hang out with his friends. This would’ve been a bleak future and we are fortunate to have avoided it imho. In the current timeline, Indians staff convenience stores, Gen X is sedentary and doesn’t play hockey and has no friends, no video stores, and Kevin smith started smoking weed in 2008, and we’re better off for it. |
