I like doing that. You can play w flavors and colors too. I’ve made pickled beets, then used same brine to make cucumber pickles and celery.

I have some fresher ones and some that are several years old, where just a few drops are enough.

Also, I haven’t done this in a long time, but dropping some dried habaneros in vodka ’makes it insanely hot, so you have to mix w something else.

I did it a few times, and I know it’s really good for your stomach but the fridge pickle tastes just as good, and takes less than a day to make. Also don’t have to worry about exact salt ratio and having everything covered w liquid and taking care of off gassing etc.

The thing about pickles though is you have to move fast. I let sauerkraut go at least 30 days, but pickles only take a day or two to get funky, then you need to refrigerate them and stop the fermentation before it gets out of control. I think 2-3 days is the sweet spot.
