Date: June 23rd, 2025 7:21 AM Author: wonderful wagecucks We let our kids <9 walk to the corner store and park by themselves. Usually, I follow along at a great distance. About 1/3 of the time some woman (95 percent of the time) will stop and demand to know where they are going and where their parents are. I've told them to just say, "We're fine, but thanks for asking." But then some number of them will park their car and get more involve and then chastise me for letting them walk alone.
I usually control my temper and cite my state's free range statute, but then they always argue with that and say things like, "I don't agree with that law."
It's crazy that we've managed to make children being outside an abnormality. When I was a kid I left the house from sunup to dusk and got up to all kinds of shenanigans and no adults cared. |
