the odyssey wasn't very good TBF

Date: July 22nd, 2026 2:36 PM Author: iridescent stage i saw in imax because my wife wanted to. i didn't hate it as much as i expected, but it was overall boring except for a few scenes (cyclops, visiting the dead, killing the suitors). obviously would have been better mel gibson style if they would have hired greek actors and made them speak homerian greek with subtitles, but i think the same about any movie like this. plenty of terrible casting choices, but i didn't find ellen paige any more distracting than odysseus' having a boston face and accent the whole time. my major problem was (1) it was overly self-serious and (2) they turned odysseus into an idiot with modern USA lib values. i rate it 5/10.
