no.

telework is great man. you can literally live a hundred miles away from work and it doesn't matter.

it's the best perk ever.

are you DC or what? There's a huge difference depending on how this plays out. GS-14 in a flyover when you can LEGIT live in a cheaper area, not some SF/downtown Chicago bullshit where it's still expensive, might be CR.

Why can't you be prosecutor and if it sucks go back to agency?

cq, havent been offered the sausa jerb yet, but am interested in knowing this

if i hate it after a year a two, havng the option of returning to my current jerb would be very nice

Do people consider SAUSA's prestigious at all?

What kind of opportunities come from being a "Special Assistant" United States Attorney?

Killuminati et al have basically said they effectively are the same as regular AUSAs; you get a similar kind of experience

theyre still paid by their parent agencies though (GS scale)

i have heard of people getting regular AUSA jobs after doing SAUSA or becoming ALJs or going back to agency

Perhaps my knowledge is limited, but I thought SAUSAs remained at their original agency, and were appointed to do specific casework - usually related to what they already do? I've never heard of SAUSA being a primary title. At least, this is how it worked for me. And the SAUSA work sucked.

in my case i would literally work at the USAO and prosecute agency-related criminal cases (i am still an employee of the agency though)

It's good experience. And if an AUSA takes a liking to you, he/she will bring you in on different cases. There is a SAUSA in my office who I have tried several non-agency related cases with. The only thing that sucks about it is that it is usually term-limited.

Mine took a total of two years. But I started work, provisionally, in the meantime. The check does not have to be complete to work.

the average is usually like 3-4 months. it takes a while because apparently there is a huge backlog in DC.

So you technically stay at your agency, and when the term is over, you still have your normal guaranteed Fed-TeleJob anyways? But now you have the added benefit of federal prosecutorial experience. What is the downside here?

havent interviewed yet

im not sure if it's a permanent position or temporary term

i dont think ive ever seen a 'permanent' SAUSA position before

i would not take the jerb if i had to go thru some probationary period again, or get a reduction in grade/pay

we'll see
