See also the concerted efforts beginning in the 1920s of the Catholic Church and basically every other Christian institution to content police Hollywood and cast it as intent on undermining Christian values. The reality is that all of us would be wealthier if our parents and/or grandparents were hellbent on living in CA, though my great grandparents never would have because that far back it was obviously an escape hatch for queers.
