This doesn’t seem that far off from the norm ime, most people just disappear if they don’t ace OCI

Edit: also zoomers are horrible and if they weren’t then Firms would be laying off Gen X and millennials to make way for them.

Yeah, I think the issue may be that there are way too many "colleges" churning out way too many "degrees."

If everyone goes to college, it simply becomes high school part 2, and fails to function as a signaling mechanism for applicants.

this is really hard to measure without having some kind of spin. i guess i'd want to see the placement stats for the top 10 schools across different majors for the past 10 years or something. "college grads" as a population has way too much variation to be meaningful. the overall pool has been diluted as more people attend and the skills/majors have gotten less employable as a result. but if top stem and business/math/econ grads are struggling i'm all ears.

Why the fuck are so many of you posting this? The point is “things are vaguely worse now than in 2017-2021.” And there’s tons of data out there.

https://www.reddit.com/r/EconomyCharts/comments/1mnfocs/the_us_unemployment_rate_for_youth_graduates_aged/

And the ratio of Engineers:liberal artists is higher than in the 2000s btw.

When I graduated college, I packed my shitty jalopy full of my shit and moved across the country with like $1,500 to my name. Got a shit job at a restaurant as a waiter. Then I found a job at an office. Got up each morning at 4:30 am to take a practice timed lsat before work. These were from the “10 Real LSAT” books.

I came from nothing and I still am nothing. It’s always been this way.

I don't feel bad for the people that majored in bullshit, which shouldn't even be allowed. But these days you can major in STEM fields and still easily strike out because US companies would rather outsource than hire a US recent grad.
