I was really hoping for de-ageing technology like in the Irishman. Have deniro's biden-aged ass shuffling around looking an uncanny-valley 47.

Just take every young person's job and ship it back up to boomers.

I read the book (Heat 2) that Mann "wrote" - it was absolute shit. The story wasn't horrible, but it was like he took a screenplay, stuck it into ChatGPT, and said "make this into a book" and published it. Some of the wrong "writing" I've ever seen.

Michael Mann is 82 and thus is not really involved in this project, just licensing his name.

I can see this being pretty awful. Starting with War Dogs and Pain and Gain, and reaching a peak with Top Gun and F1, a lot of modern dramas have a commercial like quality to them, as if they were filmed in one sequence. No particular scene is deep and most of the film is set to a high octane soundtrack. Its to stave off boredom because the public doesn't have patience for long dull dialog scenes like in the old days. So yeah, bad.

As much as I love Heat, it will always bother me that this crew, who is “the best” and extremely tight, just added the total psycho Waingro to their team the day they’re executing a very complicated, well thought out and extremely dangerous heist. Just a GAPING plot hole in what is otherwise a really well written movie.

I read the book, it was ok. Relies on a HUGE coincidence to drive the plot. Sort of ruins the suspension of disbelief. Legitimately would prefer they don't make this movie.

I forget off the top of my head, unfortunately. I read it when it came out 2 - 3 years ago and more or less forgot the plot. But there was some huge coincidence with one of the homes the main bad guy invaded. I don't want to spoil for anyone who will actually see this (and be profoundly disappointed.)

I hate the whole "everything needs to be explained" idea that took over in the last decade. Do we really need to know why Neil doesn't let himself get attached to anyone or anything? Isn't it better to let one's own mind fill in the blanks?

This is another sign that IQs are down, IMO.
