But at the same time the Roman conquest of Britannia forever changed the tribes. It’s like the measuring effect irl. Hard to say with certainty if the world would have been better had the Roman’s stayed out of Britannia and let the tribes evolve on their own.

Of course the Romans essentially invited in the Anglo Saxon German menace with its terrible consequences. Basically the Anglo saxons deserved to get got by William the conquerors Normans. It brings me great joy to think that Celtic Britons witnessed the Normans massacre the Anglo Saxons.

didn't william and conquerer dispossess celtic britons of their lands and force them into serfdom, or have them forced out of england, into wales?

iirc, he let the anglo saxons run wild

Bill was definitely not a liberator for the Celts but tbh they were pretty much done by the time of the Norman invasion anyway. He punished all the A-S elite and was more concerned with administering what the Anglo Saxons already took.. And unlike the Anglo Saxons the Normans tried meekly to move into the remaining Celtic strongholds but mostly just let them be after they pushed back. Which is why you have such strong Celtic genetic influence today in some parts of Britain.
