BTW some people at my company who started here long ago had a deal where they got something like another week of vacation every 5 years they stayed up to a total of 8 weeks. There were older people I worked with who took 8 weeks of real vacation per year and would not respond to any emails while they were out of the office. Most of them were in niche roles they could do in their sleep, though.

Client: “Oh hey we’re sending you a new deal in the next few weeks.” Makes me want to cancel my vacation right then or just let my wife and kids go (but then she’ll be pissed because that’s “not a vacation” for her). Or the psychopathic partners who do not give af about your ooo and do the “yeah junior bitch partner Josh will get a first draft out tomorrow” when that’s the first time you’ve even heard of a matter and then schedules a kick-off call with worthless but attractive junior associates and disappears himself.
It’s absolute hell. And some “partners” will offer to cover but then you either have to give them credits or they’ll try to steal the client—or both!
It’s very stressful. I now take no more than a week at a time. The smaller things / daily noise can sometimes wait 1 week. |
