Sure, if you don't count the location you live in as a having any bearing on your "standard of living."
Obviously Harlem is a unique case, but poor blacks living in Harlem are not making $100k - they're probably making actual low/middle class salaries.

Not true.
MFH is cheap if you know how to do it.
For example: No point in owning a car. That alone saves you on car payments, gas, insurance and makes up for higher rents.

it's really more like $500 per month and you are assuming one car per household which is probably unlikely.
so for a young couple, it's $1000 in car costs and $1000 mortgage payment on 3500 sq foot home or $3000 apartment plus subway/taxis in NYC.
it no way makes up for it but a car isn't free of course.

160k salary with 0 debt as a SINGLE MALE = upper middle class, even in NYC where u can comfortably save thousands with 0 debt and 0 interests.
having even 250k salary with debt and mortgage and car payments in Ohio with 2 kids and a wife will still be considered middle class.
