It would make no sense to do 1099 for most intents. But for Puerto Rico I could open a solo corp, Pay myself 1/2 salary as w2. And the rest would be taxed at 4%. And any stocks also taxed at 0%. But that won’t last forever and you’ll have 3-7 years of returns on the table if you get popped. Will you keep enough liquid to cover the potential liability? Or will you have blown through it all and potentially upset your finances at a time when you should be thinking about retirement?
