In suburbia. It determined everything about where you could go. And there was absolutely always that kid whose parents were divorced, drunk, chaotic or working weird hours who everyone sort of knew. Like they just Knew that this kid's parents couldn't be relied on for Rides. What makes me kind of sad about it is a lot of these kids whose parents could never give Rides were the funniest people I knew but all died from Opioid overdoses.
