Man, 33, fatally shot in head on Bronx street
A 33-year-old father of four was executed during a caught-on-camera killing on a Bronx street where he worked, police and friends said Friday.
The victim was outside Exotic World on Westchester Ave. near Morrison Ave. in the Soundview section of the Bronx, underneath the MTA’s elevated No. 6 line, at about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday when the gunman walked up and shot him point-blank in the head, police said.
EMS rushed him to Jacobi Hospital, where he died. His name has not been publicly released as cops track down relatives.
Heartbroken friends said the victim’s nickname was “Chicken.”
On Friday, dozens of votive candles were lit and left on the sidewalk outside of Exotic World as the victim’s friends consoled each other and swapped stories about the victim.
Friends said the victim worked at Exotic World.
“He’s a good man, good father,” one friend was overheard saying.
“He took care of his community,” said another friend. “If there was a kid right here, he’d buy him an ice cream.”
Friends said Chicken, who grew up in Soundview, rapped under the stage name Xhixken Dondada and created a music video titled “Stolies.”
In 2020, Chicken, a huge fan of Eminem, and the man who owned the studio he recorded in traveled to California where they met Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle.
“Because of his energy, we met all these people,” his friend said.
Responding officers found a single bullet casing on the sidewalk.
Workers at Exotic World said their store is a gift shop. They would not confirm if the victim had been employed at the store.
Some of the shooting was recorded on the store’s surveillance cameras, which police confiscated.
The gunman, who was wearing a black hoodie and red and black sneakers, was last seen running down Westchester Ave. No arrests have been made.
A motive for the shooting was not immediately disclosed. Police sources said the victim had an extensive criminal history with 27 arrests, including one arrest for possessing an illegal firearm.
