Beyonce drops lemonade ie the start of her peak. 2016 Olympics are pretty epic with all millennial goats (Phelps, Bolt, Biles) doing career defining shit. NBA finals is an iconic clash of the millennial titans. And while it’s of course the rise of Trump the culture treated him as a joke and a passing fad of sorts for most of 2016, and it’s only after the election that the boomers re-assertion of themselves really happens. Also everything prior up until Trayvon and the start of BLM (ie ITE, OWS) had a very Gen X, half-assed/larping leftism and smug detachment to it. Trayvon is when millennials first really start to shift the discourse and social media starts to take over the center of the culture from cable, but prior to that millennials’ major cultural achievements were limited to viral YouTube clips that barely had 15 seconds of fame and being a committed audience for reality tv.
