Are high school seniors illiterate?

I could barely understand any of it. A lot of the words aren’t real or are written phonetically in tiktok slang. they give them erb exams every year and the only area of decline over time is in the writing/language portion, he's otherwise 98/99% in math/logic/science/etc. this is at a k12 that sends ~10% to ivies/stanford/mit and 40-50% to 'T20'-type of colleges. idk, maybe they really dial it up in hs, but i remember handwriting little essays and shit probably by 4th or 5th grade. |
