1. its shale...but increasingly more accessible as technology improves.

2. its primarily on federal land.

what am i missing? why isnt this the biggest news story of the year?

what if obama said shale could marry or bullied some other geological element in its earlier years. would it then be news?

assuming global warming causes this, i would rather we cause it than china.

plus, with those reserves being utilized, we would be in better position to address such an event

Proven oil ain't everything. Other definitions of reserves put places like Saudi, iraq and Russia way ahead of us still

assuming our technology will improve. other than the internet and more fun telephones, what new technology has come about in the past 30 years?

In the oil industry, tons. Fracking, deep sea drilling methods, including advances in locating the pre-salt deposits, tar sands, etc

No it doesn't and lol at quoting anything from CNS. The vast majority of that shale will not be recoverable anytime in the foreseeable future if ever. When it can be produced the best we can hope for is costly production at levels similar to that of the tar sands (basically a slow trickle).

its not like extracting a shitton of shale from underneath wyoming could have any effect on the massive supervolcano sitting there or anything
