If Trump is acquitted it’s unquestionably a huge boost for Trump, and a week ago I didn’t think acquittal was possible, but I can’t rule it out now. A hung jury is like 50% as beneficial and more likely to just continue the recent trend. But a conviction won’t be overturned before the election and the debates will be way more centered around it as “Trump’s chaos” that independents and swing voters have always disliked. Libs will say “he is already a convicted felon and that was the weakest of the four cases. We need a POTUS who doesn’t bring along all this chaos and if we move past Trump we might be able to get to a place where it doesn’t feel like everyone is constantly screaming at the other side all the time.” And it will be bullshit, but it will also be effective. This verdict is extremely high stakes. |
