our generation was inundated with the cringiest le epic bacon XD!!!1 early internet slang. zoomers are wholesale ripping off niggers but shit like "zesty" and "pause" is way better than our nascent woke "don't even joke about gays being funny!" shit.

i'm exaggerating to convey my point that millennial slang was very influenced by 2000s early internet slang and people absolutely said shit like "epic", "YOLO", "adulting", etc. all the time IRL and for a while everyone was selling bacon everything. bacon ice cream, cupcakes, etc.

zoomers are way more unified in slang usage because of how tiktok works. i dont think i ever heard someone say "adulting" irl a single time in my life, just in tinder profiles

but this thread is really just about how you think millennials are cringe because you're gen x like doodikoff imo

hdy completely untrue.

no if anything i'm harsher on millennials because i am one and it's always more cringey looking back at your own adolescence than other peoples. from my pov 2010-2015 was the "le epic bacon" early internet age and 2015-2025 was the woke era and the slang in both of those was dogshit.

The entire modern British accent was because rich kids were copying poor kids in the early 1800s. The cockney dropped pronouncing the R and the aristocrats kids were like this sounds so cool we should do it. It's always been kids tryna be cool and copying the underclass.

i thought it was backwards: the american accent is more similar to 1700s English while the english poors copied the nobles and that became the dominant accent

The American accent is more similar to 1700s English. The British used to pronounce the R and sound more like we do. It's just that it was the English nobles copying the poors. On Wikipedia it says most of Zoomer slang originated from African Americans. It's the same concept. The poor people in England were inventing the language and the rich were doing it to be ironic. That's how they lost the R and our dialect is closer to the original.

The reason the New England accent also dropped the R was they had the most contact with Old England and had the most people from England coming there. So after the British dropped the R they came here and that's how the New England accent took root and why it sounds so strange.

I made a thread about the use of the term "zesty", which to them means faggy and effiminant

I just learned that over the holidays from a 12yo. Its pretty funny. When I first heard it I thought they meant that the person referred to was "tasty"/hot, but no, it means they are a fag
