extremely impressive in the sense they really did adapt the majority of the pathfinder system (along with a few custom classes) into a crpg, to an even greater extent in the sequel. you really do get the experience of the insane flexibility / infinite builds that are possible

but the games are impossibly long and take way too fucking long to play, and i say this as a shutin dweeb with no family to spend my time on. it's like the target audience is specifically 24 year old grad student dorks who both have the attention span required for a full-blown pathfinder ruleset and 120+ free hours to do a playthrough

I played this a fair amount on Sunday and it's an absolute Triumph of Autism. Pretty dumb you can't completely respec your companions without a mod though, very odd design choice given all the trouble they went to implement so many classes

the only game of this type I've ever really enjoyed is dungeonslayers, the movement system during combat makes it much more entertaining and the rules are simple enough while still giving you tons of ability to customize and keep adding traits to your character
