He has integrated technology into his everyday lessons. Eustacio Lopez, the son of undocumented immigrants who do not know how to send an email, is in one corner of the classroom, simultaneously using a phone, a tablet, and a laptop computer to post on the same internet message board under three different usernames. Mr. Snailmo is encouraging Eustacio's creative side by asking him to write and post differnet "flames" - or realistic works of narrative fiction - under each account.

While Mr. Snailmo has struggled with raising raw math or literacy scores, his students have proven adept at other skills. Most can now correctly recite the US News and World Report rankings of liberal arts colleges from 1 - 50, with the brightest students being able to name over 100 Liberal Arts Colleges and recite statistics about their squash teams.

He has also helped them overcome anxiety and shyness. "Billy, what are the three laws of NOWAG?", he shouts at one student. "NeverWAG, NoWAG, NeverWillBeWAG," the student shouts back with confidence, and no evidence of the stutter he had when they first met.
