People come from all over to go to Johnnies.
You'd think the people across the street from Johnnies would try to steal some of that business at some point. The food is the same at both places AFAICT, but one place is expensive and gets nocustomers, and it's always been that way as far as anyone can rememnber. Ask anyone standing in line at Johnnies why they don't go to the place across the street, even though it's way cleaner and has tons of indoor seating. |

One time we went to a gas station and he was like see this, it's a beer that looks like it comes in a Sprite can. And he bought one and insisted we go to Barnes and Nobel and he walked around drinking from an open container and acting belligerent. He keep saying no one will say shit because it's a Sprite can. And if they do I will just say they have no right to falsely accuse me.
He was very arphra. Another time he brought outside food into a theater and they told him he couldn't and he stepped over the velvet rope and walked in the theater and dared them to follow him in (they didn't).
Another time he had to leave a movie early because he was having a bad acid trip so I just watched it by myself. He hung out outside until it was over.
The last time I heard from him he said he was going to rehab and then never again. |

I haven't been to Chicago in years but the next time I do I will go to his house. His parents know me. I will knock on his door and ask where he's at. I just need an occasion to go to Chicago which I don't have. |

Fun fact: his mother is Iranian and his father is Arab Iraqi. His dad is super old like probably 80s now. His dad escaped Saddam in the 70s and went to Germany and became some sort of engineer. His mom worked at the mall in retail.
He has an older sister I never met and an older brother who was also a junky. His brother knocked up a rich heiress chick who later abandoned her kid and got remarried to a different dude and had more kids with the second husband and Watchmen's brother got full custody and the kid's mom had zero involvement. I think he sued for child support. This was all as of 2018 so I don't know what unfolded.
He's also 6'4" and pretty ripped. Good looking dude. He told me once he had gotten rhinoplasty when he was a teenager. |

They are always, ALWAYS clean though. The main point I was trying to make ITT is that cleanliness is a big indicator. If a business is super clean inside, and Italians run it...
That's not to say it complies with health and sanitation requirements - there could be all kinds of weird shit happening there - just that it's clean. |

I had a summer/afterschool job at a place that was sorta like this but nice. It was nice enough that people would go there to eat just because they saw the place and thought it looked nice, not because anyone wanted them as customers. Officially I was "waiting tables" but really it was a lot of random shit. Waiting tables was actually cr though because a lot of doods who came in there threw down big tips.
The thing was the everything was only clean and nice upstairs, on the main floor where the dining area was. Downstairs the place was not really that compliant with the law. In the kitchen too, rules were loose. Health inspectors always got their checks comped. |
