Here's what I mean: I also think Saudis or people in Brunei or wherever killing gays and adulterers is murder, but I dont want to enforce that belief. It would cost too much and have almost no chance of long-term success. The people are too far away, too fucked up in other ways -- completely alien, really. I have a scarcity of resources and concern and would not waste it on trying to stop completely insane people thousands of miles away from a killing they appear completely committed to accomplishing.

Same thing with the USA. Its too fucking big, too diverse. We never should have grown this big geographically or this diverse in ethnos/ideology. I dont have the wherewithal to convince some shitlib shrew who is adamant about not being a mom to change her mind or go to jail. Nor to address the multiple, complex dysfunctions of black poor America.

I want a small community, a local government, intensely tied to each other. If there were some political way to secede and have a state-sized nation (or even smaller!), I may be open to banning abortion because we could try to take care of each other, ensure people get in good relationships, make sure there are good jobs and good schools where we could inculcate the values that give the lie to abortion.

But merely banning abortion across this fucked-up continent? It wont help anything.
