Korean-style fried chicken goes back further than the Korean War. A 15th-century Korean cookbook describes a dish called pogye, seasoned chicken fried in oil and sauce, eaten by aristocrats.
Korean fried chicken, unlike in the U.S., is fried at least twice.

cr. the earliest physical culture of frying dates back about 5,000 years and presumably was being practiced well before then.
mashing up potatoes probably dates back 10,000 years.
