D: Typical on-course average for a decent strike (Garmin "performance average" or whatever they call it) on flat not too firm fairway is 260-265 (This is inline with Trackman/GCQuad sim sessions if I throw out the odd really bad miss hit and just leave solidly hit balls. Max I've hit on sim around 260 carry / 290 total)
2W/"Thriver": 245-250 avg (Max I've hit on sim is around 265-270) 5W: 230 OR 3H: 225 4H: 205
Stock carry: 5i: 182 6i: 172 7i: 162 8i: 149 9i: 136
Wedges I often club up and take something off, but these are the approx full swing distances:
PW: 124 GW: 112 54: 100 LW: Not sure, I don't think I've ever hit one from farther out than 70 yds. I use the 54 for almost everything from 60-95 yards.

Date: February 26th, 2026 6:17 PM Author: Judas Jones Played casually from age 13-25 (10-15 rounds a year) Only played a few rounds a year from 25-late 30s Got back into it 3 years ago and have been playing 40 rounds a year the last 3 (plus maybe an hour once a week at the range/sim). I'm mediocre but getting better. Was about a 17-18 hcp when I started playing regularly 3 years ago, down to 11-12. Probably a better ball striker than my handicap, but poor putter. Trying to work on that over the winter.
Goal is to get down to an 8 by the fall, but I'd be content with getting to sub-10 this year. |
