I vaguely remember him. Apparently someone "outed" him on the board at some point and he disappeared from xo. It was discovered by another poster today that he committed suicide shortly after retiring from xo. |

I can't know for sure but he was a very experienced user who had witnessed other people overdose and die. He had done a lot of research about it. He had also gotten clean at times for many years and abstained from heroin user for multi-year periods.
Of course, like you said, it could have been a total accident and no one would know the difference. One thing I will say about him is that throughout his life he was always on drugs. He may not have been on heroin but he was a habitual drug user. He mostly preferred weed and LSD.
My gut suspicion is that he wants depressed and he shot up a very large amount thinking he could probably handle it but had to have had a devil may care attitude. He knew how much was too much. He also often said that the most dangerous time for a heroin user is when you get back on it after a long hiatus and you think you have a higher tolerance than you do.
I think he had been using for a while though since he was talking about going to rehab. I also remember him telling me that he was buying in bulk from the ghetto in Chicago and selling it in the suburbs. I admonished him for this but he said he was broke and needed the money. He was definitely using for a while.
We'll never know for sure how intentional it was. I do think he died of a broken heart related to XO. He loved this place more than any of us could imagine. It was everything to him. |
