I have a pretty distinct memory of watching MTV in the 89-90 range and the succession of videos went something like Warrant, Skid Row, Poison, Winger, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue over the course of like an hour and my buddies and I discussed as like 4th-5th graders how it all sounded and looked the same.
